First Maize Scooter’s Coffee Location Opened
Scooter’s Coffee is getting ready to grow strategically in the Midwest and across the country. The U.S. coffee market is a recession-proof industry worth about $48 billion a year, and Scooter’s Coffee wants to become the number one drive-thru coffee franchise in the country.
Scooter’s Coffee, which is best known for its fast drive-thru, specialty coffee, and pastries made from scratch, has opened a new location at 3920 North Maize Road in Maize, Kansas. Grand Opening on Friday, December 2, where customers can get half off any drink when they pay with the Scooter’s Coffee mobile app!
With the app, customers get three “Smiles” for every dollar they spend, which they can save up to get free drinks as a reward for being loyal. Mobile Order Ahead is also available for quick and easy ordering. When customers order ahead, they can change their drinks in many ways, pay ahead of time, and quickly pick up their drinks at the drive-thru window.
Customers can pay with the app by linking a credit card and tapping “Pay in Stores” from the home screen. Then, if they choose to tip, they can pick a custom amount or percentage before scanning their app. Using the “Scan to Earn Loyalty” Only QR code, customers can also pay with cash or a gift card and still earn loyalty points through the app. You can get the app from the App Store or Google Play.
Scooter’s Coffee hires former Starbucks exec to drive growth
Scooter’s Coffee has named Joe Thornton, who used to work at Starbucks as Vice President, as company President. This is a new position for the fast-growing drive-thru coffee chain.
During his 11 years at Starbucks, Thornton was in charge of the company’s drive-thru strategy. This is likely to be very helpful for Scooter’s plans to grow.
Scooter’s was started in 1998 and is getting close to having 600 stores in the US. The company wants to be the biggest drive-thru coffee franchise in the country.
“By the end of 2022, Scooter’s Coffee will have more than 600 stores in 26 states and five distribution centers, the most recent of which will be in Atlanta. We also sell Scooter’s Coffee packaged goods and ready-to-drink coffee in more than 1,000 stores, which is a growing part of our business. Scooter’s Coffee CEO Todd Graeve said, “We are excited to have Joe Thornton join our dynamic leadership team as we continue to grow quickly and get closer to our valued customers.”
Thornton has also been in charge at Jamba Juice, Blockbuster, and, most recently, HMSHost, where he was in charge of more than 1,500 food and drink locations in North America.
Patrick Coelho, who joined Scooter’s Coffee in May 2022 as Chief Development Officer to help with the overall growth of new stores in both existing and new markets, was the last person to get a job there.
In the US, drive-through coffee shops are becoming more and more popular. They became even more popular during the pandemic when social distance became an important operational concern.
Scooter’s Coffee has competition from Dutch Bros, which plans to open 130 new drive-thru coffee shops in the US this year. It has about 540 locations at the moment.
Dunkin’ is the largest drive-thru chain in the US, with more than 6,400 locations. Starbucks and Panera Bread are next, with about 4,000 and 850 locations, respectively.
Scooter’s Coffee is a drive-thru franchise that has been serving world-class coffee for more than 20 years and has more than 500 locations in 27 states. The company has agreements to build new stores in 30 states, so it plans to open a lot more locations in 2023. Its signature drink is the Caramelicious, and the menu has a wide range of specialty espresso drinks, single-origin coffee, fruit smoothies, Red Bull Infusions, Cold Brew, baked-from-scratch pastries, and savory breakfast options.
